Renovation and expansion of an old oceanfront house that was built in the 1920’s and founded on an exterior 4″ brick stem wall and interior brick piers.
The structure was upgraded to comply with the hurricane wind design criteria of the Florida Building Code that went into effect on March 1, 2002, as well as meeting the requirements of the Department of Environmental Protection.
Mechanical connectors, hurricane clips, stainless steel plate mullions, prefabricated wood girder trusses, glu-lam beams, and Brazilian hardwood (“IPE”) were some of the components used for strength and durability of the new residence.
